Tyler Kavanaugh

Tyler Kavanaugh joins Pride of the Pitch while also serving his first season as an assistant coach for DeSales. At DeSales, Kavanugh’s primary duties include running the recruiting efforts, coordinating practices, coaching first base on game days, working with the Bulldogs catchers, and monitoring the strength and conditioning program.

He arrives at DeSales after serving as an assistant coach at Purchase College for two seasons. While at Purchase, he assisted in all facets of the program. In addition to coaching at Purchase, Kavanaugh served as head coach for the Connecticut Lawmen in the Tri-State Collegiate Baseball League during summer 2008. The Lawmen won the Connecticut division and advanced to the TSCBL championship series.

Previously, Kavanaugh has coached for Team Connecticut Blue Jays Amateur Athletic Union baseball teams. Under his guidance, the Blue Jays have qualified for the Junior Olympics, USA Nationals and AAU Nationals, with his 2005 team finishing 3rd at the 15 and under AAU National Championships.

Kavanaugh was a standout player for Kenyon College (OH) graduating in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in history. A four year starter at catcher, he earned all-conference honors three times, and ranks in several offensive and defensive categories in the program’s record book.

Following graduation, Kavanaugh spent summer 2006 playing in Europe, with the Blansko Black Hill Club in the Czech Republic. Kavanaugh holds a master’s degree in Health and Physical Education and resides in Quakertown, Pennsylvania.
